Announced in 1958, it was initially released as 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean, and then changed its name to Tennessee Rose when the monitor contract with Chet Atkins ended. This model, named after the title of a song by Chet Atkins, who was Gretsch's endorser at the time, is an ever-popular Gretsch model that has been loved by many famous musicians since its release.
The Gretsch sound comes from a 16-inch archtop body with a completely hollow body structure and a high-low Tron single coil pickups created around 1958, that combines bright and clear highs with warm but not too thick mid-bass.
